- <p> Repeating a favorite threat, Marlon Brando announced last
- week that he was quitting films forever. After an eight-year
- hiatus, the gargantuan actor says he has burned out with
- back-to-back movies: A Dry White Season, in which he plays an
- antiapartheid South African barrister, and The Freshman, a
- Godfather with a comic twist. Brando won a standing ovation from
- colleagues while filming the former, but pronounces the latter
- a mess. Said he to the Toronto Globe and Mail: "I wish I hadn't
- finished with a stinker."
